@Kevin: The tutorial works for blender-2.48a. There is no need to update the tutorial. Maybe you did not right click when you try to select the active face ? Maybe you did a double right click instead ? Maybe you are not in face select mode ?
It works definitely. i just tested it.

Have you realised, that there is a scripted solution available since a couple of days ? look at

http://blog.machinimatrix.org/nurbs2sculptie/

The script basically does automatically what this tutorial tells you to do manualy. Now it is a matter of 2 mouse clicks to transform a NURBS to a sculptie. (you need also Domino's scripts to be installed).

If you still encounter problems, you might get faster help in the forum. For questions about the video tutorials, go and see http://forums.secondlife.com/showthread.php?t=257428

The tutorial seems to be the best one for making sculpties I've seen so far. It avoids having to drag all the points in the UV texture windows manually to evenly distribute the points. The problem is that this tutorial, like all other ones for making sculpties is written for an older copy of Blender. I have Blender 2.48a and I'm stuck on step 2.

I can select a face but it seems like you don't need to right click the face a second time. At least, nothing different seems to happen when you do. Hitting a makes the face you had selected in the 3D window disappear from the UV edit window. Hitting a second time, then doing the Follow Active (quads) UV unwrap process just yields the message "ERROR: No active face selected".

I would really appreciate it if you could update this tutorial and include the menu, mouse operations, and keystrokes needed so I can make a sculptie using Blender 2.48a. I've been trying tutorials on and off for the last 6 months and not one seems to work with the 2.48 version of Blender.

Hi Gaia I love all your tutorials!!! I was so frustrated and over whelmed with Blender until I came across these tutorials. I am having a problem, i am useing Blender 2.48 and following the NURBS to Sculptie tutorial I run into a problem with selecting faces. I select top view and select all vertices and call the uv unwrap then select project from view (bounds) I then can see a sphere in the uv mapper window. i then select quads constrained rectanguler. back to 3d space and select face tool, then i deselect all vertices and select one face right clicking twice. i can see that small section in the uv mapper window. then select "a" twice highliting all vertices. then call the uv unwrap and select follow active quads, then none in the small pop up box and thats when i get this error "ERROR Mesh has no face UV coords" i can not seem to figure out what is wrong. I am sure it must be something I am doing wrong or soemthing changed in this version of Blender? I have 2.48 Any insight would be so appreciated. i really like working with the NURBS instead of starting with meshes. Thank you....
