Domino Designs & Machinimatrix have developed a series of products around the Blender add on packages for creating Sculpted Prims. We support Blender 2.4 as well as Blender 2.5. This page may help you to find out what the products exactly do and what differences they have ( for detailed comparison, see also the feature matrix ).

The products overview

 

How our products are related to each other and to Blender:

All Jass-Products and Primstar-1 are made for Blender-2.4 only! They are based on each other and there is a logical order in how they relate (see overview scheme above):

1. Primstar-1.1 is the base product (add On Scripts distribution created By Domino Marama)
2. Jass-Pub is mostly identical to Primstar-1.1 but it comes with an installer (for Windows and Mac) and delivers a complete software bundle including Python and Blender-2.49b
3. Jass-Pro adds a few enhancements to Jass-pub
4. Jass-Magic adds some more enhancements to Jass-Pro

All jass-products are made for Blender-2.4 only! Primstar-2 however is a completeley different tool. Primstar-2 is made for Blender-2.5 only! Where our products run: All our products should run on all platforms which are supported by Blender. However for Blender-2.4 we have best support on Windows and MAC (Intel based OSX-10.5 and 10.6, also named "Leopard" and "Snow Leopard"). Special note for Linux users with Blender 2.4: All Jass-products contain a zip-folder with the pure Scripts distributions. This is what you will have to install on your Blender-2.4. So you CAN have Jass-Pro and Jass-Magic on Linux if you want. Primstar-2 works only on Blender 2.5. It can be installed on any platform which is supported by Blender-2.5. Primstar-2 runs best on Blender-2.58b Decision checklist for your purchase: Here is a decision list which should help you to decide which tool is the best for you:

1. You first have to decide if you want to work with Blender-2.4 or Blender-2.5. You can decide to work with both, there is no Problem with that. All our products can be installed in parallel on the same computer without interfering.
2. If you decide to go with Blender 2.4, then you can choose one of the Jass-products (see special note for Linux users above):
   1. Jass-Pub: If you only want to try the tool, or if you want to save money, this is your choice. Jass-Pub is free
   2. Jass-Pro: If you decide to work with more complex builds, especially MultiPart builds, or if you want to get all extras (gridAlign tool, Collada fix, bugfixes) without bothering to self install each part separately, or if you want to get better support, then this is your tool. Jass-Pro costs 2000 L$, $7.5, €5.0
   3. Jass-Magic: If you are doing a lot with Sculpted Prims and your main profession is multi part Builds and if you do professional work (for reselling), and if you are doing a lot with meshes (especially rigging) then Jass-Magic is your time saver tool. Jass-Magic costs 4000 L$, $15.5, €10.0
3. If you decide to go with Blender 2.5, then your only choice is Primstar-2. The good news is that Primstar-2 runs on every platform which is supported by Blender-2.5. Installation and workflow is fully independent from your Operating system.
4. If you decide to go with a more basic product now, then later decide to upgrade, then we currently count all your up to date purchases. So you are safe to start with low budget and upgrade later without having to pay extra upgrade fees. Note that this may change in the future.
5. For Primstar-2 we currently give you 2 benefits:
   1. We give you a discount of 15% (because the product is not yet fully implemented)
   2. We give you a free copy of Jass-Magic (so you have a fallback solution, which gives you all what is not yet available on Primstar-2) Your best choice is to install Primstar-2 AND Jass-Magic in parallel.

If you want to get the "pure download" from Dominodesigns AND if you are a technician who really knows how to install add on scripts on Blender-2.4 then the Primstar-1.1 distribution is your choice.

About your creations made with our products

In general your own creations which are made with our packages fully belong to you. However some of our packages contain data from third parties. We especially use data from

• Linden Labs (The SL avatar mesh, morph data, weight data)
• MakeHuman (The mesh data, default texture)

Any work based on the above mentioned data may be copyrighted under special license terms. For MakeHuman, please check the essentials of the MakeHuman license. For the SL default Avatar please check with Linden Labs. As far as we are concerned the data can be redistributed under a creative Common shareable license. We do not know which license terms apply to any work which is directly based on the SL Default Avatar data.

About redistribution of our products

Primstar-1, Jass-1, Jass-2

The Python scripts in these products are published under GPL license terms. However this does not extend to the Windows installers, data files and other items we provide for your convenience. If you plan to redistribute modified versions of our products, then please take care to strip down the packages to the GPL parts only. The general rule applies:

All parts which are not explicitly marked as GPL are not distributed according to GPL license terms and may not be redistributed.

In particular you are not allowed to redistribute:

• The Jass-installers executables themself
• the blenderloader.exe
• data files such as the library sculpt maps (*.png) and Blend files (*.blend) (except avatar.blend)

Primstar-2

Primstar-2 is distributed under the Primstar-2 End User License Agreement. Primstar-2 can not be redistributed in any way.

Avastar is distributed under the Avastar End User License Agreement. Avastar can not be redistributed in any way.
