[PS-Youtube id=”TX6W5zHLr4A” w=”320″ h=”206″] The video shows you how to prepare and export a tiny Avatar with Blender 2.49b. I used the Avatar Workbench. However you also can use avatar.blend from Domino designs or your own rig. And of course you also can use Blender 2.5 or Blender 2.6.

Create a Tiny Avatar

Note that the Avatar Workbench comes with a modified Armature which allows to export rigged meshes to an SL compatioble Collada file. The two most important issues with tiny Avatars:

  • Take care to Apply scale to the Armature while in object mode. Otherwise your tiny Avatar won’t get tiny.
  • Tiny Avatars need an offset correction. Otherwise they hover high up in the air.

The Video shows the complete procedure from the workbench into OpenSim or a similar online world.
